Laurie Forbes Elaine Ferris
Laurie E. Forbes is a long-time resident of Vienna, Virginia and formerly a
partner in the firm of Lawson, Kipp, Forbes & Ayres. She concentrates
her practice in family law, and in trusts and estates. Ms. Forbes is President of the Virginia Women
Attorneys Association, a past president of the Northern Virginia Chapter
of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association in 1995-96, and the
Legislative Chair of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association in 1992-93.
Ms. Forbes is also a member of the Standing Committee on Professionalism
of the Virginia State Bar, and of the Family Law Sections of the Virginia
State Bar and of the Fairfax Bar Association. Ms. Forbes is retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve, where she served in the Naval Reserve Intelligence Program and was the commanding officer of two naval reserve units. Prior to entering the private practice of law, she was with the Office of General

Ferris is an attorney with the Law Office of Laurie Forbes, LLC in Fairfax, Virginia. She practices in the areas of estates and trusts, elder law, and adult incapacity. After graduating from SUNY at Buffalo magna cum laude, Elaine worked as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration. She subsequently earned a Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a focus on developmental disabilities. Following her graduation from Georgetown University Law Center in 1981, she served for 8 years at the U.S. Department of Justice as an attorney handling appellate tax cases in the federal courts. While raising a family in Fairfax County, Elaine served on the boards of numerous community and educational organizations.
